RE: Cross Country Trip-Are these good CGs or should I Avoid?

Places we have stayed your trip Las Vegas Oasis one of the better RV parks in town they even have a kids pool with a sand beach. Lots to see in town with the BIG CASINOS and with their free shows Pirate Ship,Volcano,Roman Mall with light show to name a few and don't miss Hoover Dam Denver Dakota Ridge another nice friendly RV park with a large clean laundry Amarillo Fort Amarillo good clean friendly park sites have a small fence dividing the sites with a small patio and a patch of grass long enough that we did not need to unhook 35 ft. MH it has a nice gift/home shop for the wife if you like Chinese food there was a good buffet just across the Hwy. and left on the frontage road Albuquerque Central KOA was a nice clean friendly park when we stayed there an Alt. would be American RV park on the west side of town up on the mesa also a good park don't miss Old Town and there is a great Mexican restaurant in the large mall just off I-40 ask at the RV park it name begans with a G also look for a Rudy's BBQ they don't look like much but great food everything is sold by the pound including beans and cream corn they have picnic tables to eat there and they will give you a loaf of bread and more BBQ sauce to make sandwichs. Have fun

RE: Durango and other area advice needed please!

We have never stayed at KOA we do like Alpen Rose or United in Durango the train goes right through the campground at United for great pictures. There is a steep grade and switch backs going to the top at Mesa Verde although it can be done. Driving to the Grand Canyon from Durango is 314 miles so can be done in a long day 6 hours. If it were me I would stop in Monument Valley at Gouldings RV park 23 miles north of Kayenta off of 160 this is about half way and you would have time to see some of Monument Valley. Just a suggestion. Have fun

RE: Best route to Cascade, Idaho from Long Beach, CA...

From your home location 395 is a good route there is one 10 mile 6%grade north of Bishop To Tom's Place but it is 4 lanes with the heat this time of year it is better to do it before noon but this is a major truck route and we have done it many times with no problems, you would probably want to over night in Lone Pine or Bishop any way Boulder Creek in Lone Pine or Highland RV Park in Bishop are good stops the scenery to Reno is pretty in Reno I would go east I-80 to Winnemucca then north 95 all the way to Boise then 55 north to Cascade all good 4 or 2 lane roads with no major grades if not stopping in Reno Winnemucca is a good stop. Have fun

RE: HWY. - US 395

Boulder Creek just south of Lone Pine clean, quite, friendly,FH park. If you want to push a little further to Bishop Highland RV park on the north side of town is nice for an overnight the sites are a little tight. If you decide to go up 95 there is one in Mina that's ok for overnight and a fairly new one in Hawthorne Whiskey Flats. Things to see your route in Lone Pine view Mt. Whitney tallest peak in lower US,old movie museum mostly westerns,Alabama Hills site of many old westerns, just a little north Manzanar Natl. Hist.Site WW11 Japanese relocation center, between Big Pine and Bishop look for ELK on the north side of the Hwy.there is a good visitors center on the north side of Lee Vining about Mono Lake easy parking,Bodie S.H.P. about 10 miles off 395 and last half is gravel but a great ghost town,Carson City Nevada's State Capitol the Old Mint museum, good Railroad museum that's a few hope it helps. Have fun

RE: Round-trip from Las Vegas

Four Sisters from San Francisco to Salt Lake is 831 miles that's a haul I would do it in 3 days specially with children my opinion. The half way mark 472 miles would be Winnemucca, the Winnemucca RV Park has a pool for the kids,if you want to push further Elko is 599 miles we stay at Double Dice, there is a new park behind The Hilton Garden but have not stayed there neither has a pool and closer to your starting point is Reno the ones I would recommend are Boomtown,Gold Ranch,Grand Sierra RV Park,River's Edge all have pools except Grand Sierra. Again if it were me I would stop in Reno,Elko then Salt Lake. Have fun

RE: how about I-40 into Flagstaff AZ

There are some small up and downs between Kingman and Flagstaff I would call them hills not big grades and the Hwy. is straight as an arrow and like I said above it is a 4 lane interstate and major truck route you will have no problems just enjoy and Have fun

RE: how about I-40 into Flagstaff AZ

From Whittier CA. you can take I-15 north to Barstow and east I-40 all the way to Flagstaff no problems this route all 4 lane interstate hwy. there is one long grade of about 10 miles from junction of I-15 and the 215 to the top of Cajon Pass this is 5 lanes on the way up so no problems it is a major truck route. Places we have stopped this route Needles KOA,do not buy fuel in Needles wait until you cross into Arizona Needles wants all your cash plus your 1st and 2nd child,Kingman KOA We like J&H in Flagstaff but if you have children there is no pool. Some things to see around Flagstaff there is an old lumber barons home on the college worth going through,18 miles north on 89 there is a loop drive that takes you through Sunset Creaters Natl.Mon.and Wupatki Natl.Mon.great Indian ruins,Walnut Canyon cliff dwellings the climb here back to the parking lot is very steep but there benches where you can rest,Sedona red cliffs and buttes, drive down Oak Creek Canyon toward Sedona ,Jerome,Montezuma Castle more cliff dwellings,Fort at Camp Verde and of course Grand Canyon to name a few. Have fun

RE: From Provo to Grand Tetons

I would take I-15 north to Idaho Falls east 26 to Hoback Junction north to Jackson this route is an easier drive my opinion and it is 359 miles and Map Quest route is 305 miles for travel time I divide 50 MPH into distance that gives you time for lunch and light sight seeing and it always comes out pretty close so my route 7.1 hours,Map Quest 6.1 hours. Have fun
